Providing Passage: Aquatic Organism Passage Culverts
On the Tongass, there are nearly 700 identified sites of culverts and bridges from past logging roads that may be blocking hundreds of miles of salmon spawning streams. Aquatic organism passage (AOP) culverts are structures that allows the stream to dynamically pass under the road, remaining passable for fish while adapting to the streams changing conditions throughout the year.
