On one of the lowest tides of the summer, we will be exploring areas surrounding Sitka. The Allen Marine vessel will drop us off so we can explore up close and personal with marine creatures accompanied by a UAS Biology professor Marnie Chapman, SSSC research biologist Lauren Bell, and SCS staff. Learn the importance of this micro-ecosystem, its connection to our Tongass National Forest, and how SCS supports our public lands for recreation.
Partcipants will be exploring the intertidal zone and should wear rubber boots and be prepared to walk on rough and slippery terrain. Rain pants are also recommended.
Tickets are $55 per person and are available for purchase at Old Harbor Books two weeks prior to the cruise with cash or check. We are grateful to Allen Marine for providing these tours at a discount for non-profits, so no further discounts are available.
Boarding will begin at 8:15 am at the Crescent Harbor loading dock. Hot drinks are complimentary and there are snacks are available for purchase. You are welcome to bring your own treats. Binoculars are provided to view the incredible wildlife on the tour.
