Ellie grew up outside of New Haven, Connecticut and studied Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Yale University. She moved to Sitka to work as the Public Lands Communications Fellow with SCS and the Forest Service in 2018, and has since worked in a variety of roles at SCS. As the Wilderness Legacy Director, she is working to honor the legacies of our founders and supporters, hoping to inspire the next generation to action to protect the Tongass.
Ellie is fascinated by the connections between ecosystems, especially from land to sea, and loves thinking about salmon’s role in tying together the Pacific and the Tongass. Ellie loves to hike in the forest and turn over rocks at low tide. This year she finally found a brittle star and was over the moon! One of her favorite things about living in Sitka is the connection Sitkans have to the land and sea, especially through wild foods.
