Shresha Karmacharya is currently a Senior at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Originally from the foothills of Central Nepal, Shresha has been in the United States for 3 years, in which she has spent time learning about multiple facets of sustainable development, focusing primarily on food service and international development.
At Knox, she has worked towards implementing food waste reduction initiatives as a KnoxCorps volunteer, has organized fundraisers for a microsavings program in Haiti for agricultural rehabilitation, and has also served as an aide for various on-campus sustainability initiatives as a student senator. While studying abroad in Germany, Shresha delved deeper into learning about CSAs, the German energy transition program, and even participated in numerous field-work projects. In her free time, Shresha enjoys making bad jokes and also likes spending time outdoors photographing the nature. Shresha is thrilled to be in Sitka, and is ecstatic about being able to work on wild salmon conservation and advocacy efforts.
Shresha joins SCS for the summer thanks to the support of Sitka Salmon Shares and Knox College.
