Mary Wood

Mary Wood, Community Sustainability Organizer: 4-H and Community, first came to Alaska when she was four years old and immediately knew she wanted to live here when she grew up. After graduation from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University with a B.A in Environmental Studies, Mary landed in Sitka as a Jesuit Volunteer with SCS, serving with the Fish to Schools and Alaska Way of Life 4-H programs. Her passion lies in back country experiences, local and sustainable food systems, and waste reduction. Mary is excited to continue to work with the 4-H program in Sitka, building a network of volunteer adults and engaged youth as they gain leadership skills and practice civic engagement while living with the land in Sitka.
