Jack Ozment, President
Board member since 2001
Retired engineer, City of Sitka Assembly member, Sitka Parks and Recreation board member, Park Service volunteer, active in Sitka Trailworks, recreational boater and fisherman.
"When my grandchildren visit, I want the Wild environment of Alaska to remain intact so I can share it with them. We don't want this country to be turned into bare hills devoid of wildlife. This vision keeps me working to conserve Alaska wildlands for coming generations to experience." |

Richard Nelson
Board member since 1983
Subsistence hunter- fisher-gather er, anthropologist, and former writer laureate of Alaska. His books include The Isla nd Within , Make Prayers to the R aven, and Heart and Blood: Living with Deer in America. He is also the Producer of Encountersa public radio program exploring wild Alaska, broadcast on stations throughout the state.
"Volunteering for conservation is my way to give something back, in return for the pleasures and rewards that come to us from this beautiful place. Involvement with the Sitka Conservation Society has been an important part of my life for many years. We are a local group with a national constituency, working with people all over America to protect one of the world's great natural treasures. I hope everyone who cares about the wild coast of Alaska and the Tongass National Forest will consider joining SCS in this vital effort."
