Ellie Handler - Public Lands Communications Fellow

Ellie grew up outside of New Haven, Connecticut and studied Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Yale University. She graduated in 2018 and was lucky enough to spend the summer traveling, including walking The Camino de Santiago. She will be working as the Public Lands Communications Fellow with SCS and the Forest Service this year.

Ellie is fascinated by connections between ecosystems, and she is excited to learn more about salmon’s role in tying together the Pacific and the Tongass. She is passionate about sustainable land use and is thrilled to be able to highlight projects on the Tongass that help maintain the forest’s health. Ellie loves to hike and explore the outdoors and can’t wait to get outside. She hopes to learn how to collect and prepare wild foods while living in Sitka.
