Edie Leghorn, a native of Massachusetts, graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine in 2014, where she minored in Spanish and majored in History, concentrating in American history with a particular focus on the environment. A trip leader for Bowdoin’s Outing Club since her freshman year, Edie spent a good part of her four years of college exploring the woods and waters of Maine. In addition, she has spent extended periods of time in the backcountry of Wyoming and Chilean Patagonia, on courses with the National Outdoor Leadership School, and in Colorado and Utah, leading high school juniors on extended wilderness trips. Edie fell in love with Sitka last summer working as SCS’s Wilderness and Stewardship Intern, and is back again working on wilderness stewardship and storytelling with both the Sitka Conservation Society and the Forest Service. She is very excited to be back in a community and working for a cause she loves so much!
